Dorrie McKoy
A book is an adventure waiting to happen. Dorrie wants all her students to discover this well-known saying. For her, reading is a powerful way to connect with the world around us and, more importantly, with our Heavenly Father. She loves bringing books, characters, and thoughtful discussions to life in her classroom. She has a deep desire to instill a lifelong love of reading books that are True, Good and Beautiful in all her students.
Dorrie graduated from Gordon College with a B.S. in Elementary Education and has a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of New England. Dorrie is also Orton-Gillingham trained and is a phonics junkie. She has taught in both Classical and Christian schools for over two decades.
Outside of school, Dorrie has been happily married to her best friend, Herb, for over thirty years. They have a married son, Alex, who is a local firefighter. When she is not teaching, Dorrie loves reading, playing with her cats (Gordo and Cooper), needlepointing, or looking for a lively game of Mahjong.
