Jodi graduated with honors from Auburn University of Montgomery with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She taught for five years in both public and private schools before staying home at the birth of her first child. In 2002 when their oldest child reached kindergarten, the Smiths decided to homeschool. The next years were spent raising, training, and teaching their four children. She began teaching online in 2011. This perfect job allowed her to be at home with her children and use her creative gifts to educate and encourage other children from all over the world in subjects that she loves. She has a passion for instilling the love of books in children and incorporating biblical concepts and principles.
In 2014, Jodi and her husband Sam expanded their family to seven by adopting from China. Through yearly trips to Chinese orphanages, Jodi has continued her advocacy for these children in need. Having grown up in an Air Force family, she developed a love of travel and adventure. She loves to read, take pictures, explore new places, and share God’s creation with others. Her two oldest are now in college, but the three youngest continue their education through online classes. The Smiths live in Greensboro, Georgia where Sam pastors Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church (PCA) and serves as a Lt. Col in the Air National Guard.
