In this intermediate Spanish course, students build on the grammar foundation established in Spanish 1. They focus on the logical and analytical aspects of effective communication and proper use of more complex grammatical structures. Students continue to explore the history, geography and culture of Spanish-speaking countries through a variety of artists, writers and current events that bring classroom learning to life.

Topics include: Spanish vocabulary; more complex grammatical structures to continue building confidence in understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish; and the culture in Spanish-speaking countries.

Prerequisite: Spanish 1 or permission of the teacher.

Homework Habits: Students typically spend 3-4 hours a week practicing vocabulary, completing grammar exercises and writing a weekly discussion board post.

Suggested grade level: 9-12
