This course develops a solid foundation in topics from physics and chemistry to equip grade 7 students for School of Rhetoric science courses. Topics include matter and atomic theory, energy, forces and motion, waves, sounds and light, electricity and magnetism, types of substances, compounds and chemical reactions. Students will learn a mastery based approach for study and problem solving skills. Students will carry out several lab activities. Although students will not be required to submit formal lab reports, they will practice skills of making and recording observations, describing experiments, presenting data, and engaging with questions about outcomes. A biblical worldview is cultivated throughout the course through the consideration of topics such as order and design, the nature of science and scientific modeling, and evaluation of scientific theories.
