My son Jackson and I enjoyed the “Your State” class so much! We spent time visiting as many places as we could. The class was organized in such a way that we were able to explore every aspect of Montana history. My own love for the state and interest in its history was reignited as we studied and traveled around Montana.

We turned every weekend basketball trip into an opportunity to dig deeper into the state’s history. We are blessed to live in such an expansive and beautiful state and would not have experienced the depth of its rich history without Mrs. Lowery’s research prompts. We discovered Native American sites in our own back yard, visited my great grandparents homestead town, stood where William Clark signed his name in sandstone, and visited the mansions of both Montana Copper Kings.

The opportunity to present to other students about his own state as well as learning from classmates about their home states was an additional bonus for Jackson. He enjoyed the variety of projects and has considered taking the class a second time to learn about Oregon, the state where our oldest son is going to college.

I am really enjoying the “Your State” class this year! I especially enjoy being able to give presentations in class. Mrs. Lowery has used fun and educational ways to teach me how to correctly give a presentation. I have learned impromptu, term memorization, and even how to prepare Power Points. While I am learning about the great state of Ohio, I also have the chance to learn about all the states that my classmates live in. “Your State” is an amazing class! It is one of my favorite classes this school year!
