Josie graduated from Wheaton College with a B.A. in Social Science/Psychology and an emphasis in Education. She taught middle school English, literature, and math at a private Christian school until her first child was born. In 2003, the Lowerys decided to homeschool their three children and enjoyed every minute of that journey together. During that time, she also taught literature and history at an umbrella school for homeschooling families.
Josie grew up on a farm in the Midwest and still misses country living. She has always loved to read. As a child, she was known to come to the dinner table only to be told she must put down her book for the meal. She has a passion for teaching and instilling a love of learning in her children and her students. Her goal is for them to become “lifetime learners” and for them to learn to seek the one true story of the Gospel as they read great works of literature. She always has something to knit and loves gardening, goats, and good coffee. Even though her children are grown, Josie is thankful to be able to encourage other homeschooling families as she teaches their children. She lives in Athens, Georgia, where her husband Todd is the Assistant Pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
