Becky Winn is a long-time teacher and former school principal with decades of teaching experience in various settings, including classrooms, co-ops, and private tutoring. She began homeschooling her own seven children in the “pioneer” days” of the early 1980s, ultimately teaching all of them at home all the way through high school. In 1988 she founded and ran Heritage Christian School (a hybrid homeschool/day school in San Diego) that grew to over 1200 students at six sites before she “retired” in 2005 to Texas to be near her grandchildren. Before joining Wilson Hill Academy in 2016, she spent three years at Grace Covenant Academy in Frisco, TX, teaching combined English/History curricula to grammar and middle school students. During that time she also taught AP English classes to homeshooled juniors and seniors, the majority of whom scored “5” on the AP English exam.
Becky has been blessed now to see her eldest grandchild graduate from high school after having been home educated for kindergarten through 12th grade. Though she loves her students and stays in touch with many of her former graduates, she admits loving her class of seven Winns the best! She considers the privilege of teaching to be one of God’s richest blessings in her life and is honored to share her love of literature and her passion for writing with students at Wilson Hill.
