WHA students boarded the World War II USS Yorktown CV-10 aircraft carrier on Charleston Harbor. There they lived as “shipmates” while touring the museum’s three 70-year-old warships and, as part of the crew, experienced the history of the Vietnam War in a fully immersive 2 ½ acre exhibit that uses holograms to bring Marine officers to life in a captivating 3-D production. Next they hit the beach to explore how the ecological processes of these diverse and productive sandy stretches serve as an essential link between marine and terrestrial environments. What fun!
