Literary Analysis and Argumentation combines a focus on critical writing skills (thesis development, paragraph unity, logical structure of an argument, etc.) with critical analysis of a variety of literary genres and periods covering a broad range of topics. The course teaches skills in close textual analysis of literature and familiarizes students with literary criticism, as well as providing them with experience in crafting elegant, persuasive prose based on valid argumentation.

Prerequisite: Mastery of basic essay form and at least one prior high school course in literature or The Great Conversation Series
